MDU Communications Inc. Opens Mississauga Office To Serve The Largest Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) Market In Canada. April 5, 2000 11:56 AM Eastern Time RICHMOND, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2000--MDU Communications International, Inc. MDTV
MDTV has recently expanded operations with the opening of an office in Mississauga, Ontario near the Star Choice head office and operations centre. This strategic location will provide MDTV with immediate access to Canada's largest MDU market and provide an important link to Star Choice so that the companies can continue to work closely together to effectively serve this market and the rest of Canada as deployment of service accelerates.
Gary Monaghan, President of MDTV, stated, "We are aggressively deploying Star Choices digital satellite television service in every major market in Canada. We have very good regional sales and technical teams in place. As our deployment accelerates, our national direct sales force will be in properties providing residents with StarChoice digital satellite television services. MDTV has signed numerous letters of intent with Toronto area property owners and managers who are eager to offer their residents the benefits of choice."
MDTV and Star Choice are strong unique partners in the delivery of digital satellite TV in Canada and have extensive deployment plans in the Greater Toronto area and all other major cities in Canada. MDTV and Star Choice are realizing great success and winning the acceptance with property owners and managers, who traditionally have had little choice in providers.
Doug Harvey, Director of Commercial Services for Star Choice, comments: "Our companies have worked diligently to develop robust systems that provide end user choice to ensure the highest level of customer service and satisfaction. Star Choice and MDTV look forward to launching the new F1 satellite this fall that will provide further channel expansion including more High Definition Television Channels (HDTV) and interactive services."
According to Sheldon Nelson, Chairman and CEO of MDTV, "The most cost effective method of delivering digital television is via satellite." MDTV employs a unique marketing strategy that creates strong consumer acceptance and high levels of subscriber penetration into target properties, even when competing directly against incumbent cable operators in the same space. MDTV is well positioned to deliver its new high speed Internet service to these same properties, as part of a bundled package of telecommunications services for the residents of its properties.
