The Bre-X countdown

Investors place final bets as mining and investment circles await Strathcona's report card on
Busang

By SANDRA RUBIN -- The Financial Post

The Toronto Stock Exchange clamped down Friday on trading of Bre-X Minerals Ltd. as anxious investors placed their
final bets on one of the most compelling mysteries of recent times.
As first reported in The Financial Post, the TSE is now restricting Bre-X trades to avoid chaos when an independent
assessment of Busang's gold reserves hits the streets.
The audit by Strathcona Mineral Services Ltd. is expected to settle whether the Indonesian site is the greatest gold find
of the century or one of the greatest gold frauds of all time.

accepted.
He only hoped the traits were infectious to those around him, Moffett said at the time.

Bre-X's biggest problem may be a failure to communicate

By DAVID THOMAS -- The Financial Post

Last year Bre-X Minerals Ltd. geologist and senior vice-president John Felderhof called the company's chief executive
David Walsh from Indonesia and gave him some extraordinary news.
"We've got a monster by the tail," Felderhof told Walsh, prefacing his news that the gold content of the company's
Busang property was growing at an astounding rate.
