Actually the news is even better than what appears on the surface. The RBOC's have been using Alctel's modem, in part to defeat the independent telcos. Lucent is a member in good standing of the Ma Bell good old boy network. It is a safe bet that the RBOC's will migrate over to Lucent's stuff, provided it is not vaporware, and leave Alcatel to twist in the wind. Jack Hutchison
