It looks like we "lucked out", catching those potentially deadly wood suckers in their early nest building stages. I killed a whole bunch of them starting to emerge from the basement, and sprayed a special termite killing solution down their tunnels with a little tube attached to the can. On the main beam, I sprayed it right into the new tunnels there also, then did the "poking test" with a narrow screwdriver to see how deep and extensive the damage was. Then of course, there is the old "tapping on wood" test, to check the "soundness" of the wood. So far, things look better than I thought. Next, we are placing "anti-termite stakes" into the ground all around the house. And I will keep checking and checking until I'm satisfied. I intend to win this little war, but termites are sure persistent and stubborn! Tired Yogi
