johnd -- I expect MSFT to possibly preannounce earnings surprise soon. Although I think your cheerleading is a little transparent (OK, we get it -- you've got a boatload of shares and have a maniacal interest in pumping it up as much as possbile)... You raise an interesting scenario. Not that I think you have any information or reason to believe this is true -- I thnk it's purely speculation on your part and therefore it's erroneous to say you "expect" a preannouncement. What you probably mean is you "hope" there's a preannouncement. And, given MSFT's legendary earnings management, might it not be a kick in the pants to many doomsayers to see MSFT apply some of their balance sheet slush to this quarter's earnings to goose the stock by a few bucks? I have no knowledge of this one way or the other... but it's a fun scenario to roll around...
