Intelligent Systems to pay special dividend

NORCROSS, Ga., March 28 (Reuters) - Intelligent Systems Corp. (AMEX:INS - news) said Tuesday its board declared a special 52 cent dividend to shareholders, citing its strong financial position and some anticipated future liquidations.

The dividend is payable April 20 to shareholders of record on April 7.

The company, which provides entrepreneurs with early stage equity capital, said it expects to liquidate some assets in the near future. Intelligent Systems has made two new investments this year and expects to announce another in the next few weeks, chief executive J. Leland Strange said.

Shares of Intelligent Systems were up 1/2 at 9-3/4 on the American Stock Exchange early on Tuesday.

Intelligent Systems provides entrepreneurs with equity capital, business advice, services and an incubator program. It makes equity investments in businesses mainly operating in technolocy and healthcare industries.
