Kevin, I did notice the x in the stocks table, not in the Most Active section (The European Edition is a stripped down version... selling at 4 times the US price...). I did not focus on the previous day's Close. Though after examination of what I have (...), the movement was up $1/2... accounted as $1 1/2 in The Wall Street Journal and Interquote for June 12th...

I do not have a copy of Barron's at hand right now, to check about the Dow computation. Though I thought the dividends were factored in ?

Anyway when I find enough time I will answer your e-mail in full, addressing the topics you mentioned. I do not want to add more here, since the facts should only matter. Even if I don't agree with someone I do not respond straight if I believe the other view has been expressed here already... unless I am asked in person. I never address the readers only (I think they are intelligent enough to have their own views and make their own decisions). I do not post here on SI to register first in the polls and encourage cheerleaders (quite the contrary).

To close the point I'd never received 'hostile e-mail' nor an heavy load of junk mail, and I did never send anonymous e-mail. In fact the previous week I answered some 'Europeans, Australians, Canadians...' who were trashing the US and its education system, whom were arguing that Americans high school students were dumb (among other 'qualities'...). I did receive a number of cheerful e-mail from Americans, and my arguing was qualified as 'intelligent'. Though the foreigners were free to e-mail me too, they didn't.
