If I were King (or whatever) I wouldn't criminalize possession or use. But I would criminalize (does that word work for something on the level of a DUI bust?) doing mean or dumb things while on drugs. Driving on mushrooms, for example, is pretty stupid and reckless - I'd suspend the person's license for some period, exact a fine, require court-mandated classes of some sort. Basically make the price of being stupid pretty high without bringing down the 60 smart users for every idiot. I have no beef with drinking. I don't respect drinking&driving however. Unlike MADD I won't go so far as to try and revive the temperance movement. Americans are enamored of banning things.
