You own the largest auto maker in the world & some other small company starts turning out electric cars & builds up a good market. Then you start making the same product & decide you will drive that company out of business by giving away your electric cars. Your company will survive off the income of gas burning autos, while the small company gets driven out of business.

How about this example:

The electric car costs $5,000 and it does not run very well. The biggest car company in the world discovers that it can make its engine run electricity for $4. Should the Big company be prevented from producing its car, because it might put the little price gouging company out of business??

Remember that it was Netscape's original plan to charge for the Email plug-in. You remember the Netscape "plug-ins"? They had a whole range of prices in mind. And what did Netscape charge for the Server Edition? The other end of their attempt to lock every one into Netscape, 5, 10 thousand. I don't know but I betcha the server end of Netscape did not speak to MSIE.
