Dell wants to draw from its experience managing its own Web site, which generates $40 million in sales daily. The computer maker also pioneered using the Internet to link its production department directly to suppliers.

'We've kind of become a poster child for the Internet,' Michael Dell said. 'Dell's fundamental advantages of the last 16 years play extremely well' toward teaching other businesses how to benefit from the Web.
