Hi BWAC - thanks for the news [of calling for Hilbert's resignation.] Actually, I am rather ambivalent about it. While I am totally p*ssed about the situation, I am not inclined to ask for blood simply b/c I made a bad move in catching a falling knife [so, ok, I thought it was a nobrainer... evidently, the one lacking the brain is your truly :)!]
Operationwise, did Hilbert do a lousy job. No. Quite the contrary, core biz is fine. Did he make a poor gamble with GT? Hindsight is yes! The irony is that if the Street had liked the idea to begin with, he might have gotten away with it. But then, I probably wouldn't enter the stock either.
More important, I think emotion is only good if it brings about desired results in the investment world. I certainly do not want to jeopardize my already dwindling position in CNC. Rather, would Hilbert's resignation bring about a market rally? I don't know. Hilbert and his team have boatload of stock to be liquidated in the process. So, those shareholders who cry for the head may have a chance to get theirs cut off 1st! If it is that easy, my guess is that Hilbert and his crew may be the 1st one to agree. Ironic, isn't it?
Just my 2 confused cents :)
