RE: routing light (not to mention hideous thread bloat)

you can't route packages with optical

And I never imagined I'd see real-time stock quotes on my Dick Tracy wrist-radio either.

The term "routing" has become so standardized, and at the same time, so twisted, it's almost impossible to say just what routing is anymore. Once upon a time, we had a seven-layer model that defined networks, and it was goodness. Now, it's so squished, it hardly matters any more. You're either at the top with an application or the bottom with a bunch of photons. There's a few places left in the middle to make some money, but they're getting squished further every day.

I quit saying "can't" about networking roughly five years ago, when SONET busted out. Nothing and everything surprises me now. These are after all photons, which have properties, and can be measured, if I remember my Stephen Hawking correctly. If it can be measured, it can be routed*.

I just hope I have enough legs left to find this company and go sell this stuff to a lot of large corporations before a big, fat over-valued Gorilla like Cisco buys it.

* It seems like somewhere in here Heisenberg's principle about observation comes into play, but I ain't sure where.
