Your points are valid especially in a fast market downtrend. Any investor that relies on trading through a standard on-line broker risks getting rolled over when access to their broker is met with sites that are down or phone lines that are tied up for hours. Repair strategies in crash situations may not be possible. One may not be harmed in sharp plunges in prices and quick rebounds, but severe damage can occur with put selling if the market doesn't bounce back and repairs couldn't be made.

This scenario is what separates put selling from call buying.
