US' ADVANCED MICRO JAPAN JT VENTURE MAY BUILD CHIP PLANT

TOKYO - Advanced Micro Devices Inc has set its sights on a 39% increase in sales
of microprocessors for personal computers to 25 million units in 2000, Chairman
and CEO WJ Sanders says.

The US microchip maker is also considering construction of a new plant for flash
memories at its Japanese joint venture with Fujitsu Ltd (TSE:6702) to meet
demand from mobile phone manufacturers, Sanders said.
