It would certainly be worth a try. I hate the fact that our prison system is bursting at the seams- and eliminating the non-violent drug criminals from that system might improve things- it would certainly improve things for them. What we are doing now is not working. I don't think anyone can argue very successfully that it is. The percentage of our population that is imprisoned astonishes me. Every American should be ashamed by that- a society that is imprisoning that many people is FAILING, and must be changed. Will the change be better? Can it be much worse?
