Someone asked me how I have been doing with AMEX. Here is my reply:

So far so good. I traded five stocks last week and 3 out of the 5 were within the bid and ask, one or two better than ask while the other two were above the ask. Now I have heard that this is where the individual will get screwed but if that were their policy, I would not have had three good fills. Prior fills were all within the bid and ask.

They are not as fast with instant updating as Datek but they do update the accounts within a few minutes.

I have not had any trouble getting on the site and trading but I only go there to trade - I use datek for all price checking and that sort of thing.

I am considering opening up a taxable account with them because I like to scale in and out with small positions from larger holdings just to have some cash availble for good buying opportunities like these last two weeks. To be able to do that frequently and in small increments would be a definite advantage for accounts over $100,000.

Good luck,

HiTech
