Announces Key Executive Appointments and Promotions

MENLO PARK, Calif. ? Apr. 4, 2000 ? Nuance today strengthened its management team with a series of executive appointments and promotions. Most notably, Nuance announced the appointments of Paul Scott as senior vice president of worldwide sales, and Donna Taylor as vice president of human resources.

Paul Scott comes to Nuance from Lucent Technologies, where he served as senior vice president, worldwide sales of the company's Octel messaging division. Scott brings extensive knowledge of the global telecommunications market to Nuance and will focus on building the company's U.S. and international sales and field support organizations. Scott earned a bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwestern University.

Donna Taylor joins Nuance as vice president of human resources and chief people officer after three years in a similar position at Vantive Corp. Taylor will take on responsibility for human resources strategy, employee relations and recruiting efforts. Taylor holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas.

Other personnel changes at Nuance include the promotions of Matt Lennig to senior vice president of engineering, Eng Yew Lee to vice president of technical services, and Lloyd Leanse to vice president of business development.
