IBM and MSFT are two different things. Research one level down and you will find business momentum; company fundamentals, management are vastly different.

The most likely outcome in MSFT case is:

Goes through appellate court. There MSFT wins. Or MSFT settles the case in late 2001 at the tail end of the appellate process with a different govt. in Washington.

The next likely scenario is:

Goes to appellate court. Then goes to supreme court. There either MSFT wins or MSFT settles in 2002 prior supreme court verdict.
