Showcase Networked Medical Applications at HIMSS 2000
High Performance Wired and Wireless Solutions Include First-of-its-Class
Mobile Local Area Network Solution Lan2Go(TM)
DALLAS, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- (InformaTech booth #9350; Enterasys booth
#8851) -- Kaneb Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAB - news) Information Technology
Group and Enterasys Networks, a Cabletron Systems (NYSE: CS - news) company
today announced an alliance to deliver innovative medical applications that
will be demonstrated at the Healthcare Information Management and Systems
Society (HIMSS) conference in Dallas, Texas April 9 through 13. InformaTech,
Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Kaneb Services, will introduce a
first-of-its-class complete, secure, highly scalable mobile Local Area
Network solution, ``Lan2Go(TM).' Lan2Go(TM) was designed and engineered by
InformaTech, Inc. (ITI). ITI elected to use standards-based switch routing
and wireless LAN connectivity developed by Enterasys Networks.

Lan2Go(TM) is being introduced at the HIMSS 2000 conference, where more than
17,000 attendees will view the latest advances in healthcare management and
technology solutions. The solutions featured by Enterasys Networks and
InformaTech, Inc. are designed to help healthcare providers and facilities
use the benefits of technology to improve efficiency and enhance patient
care.

``The Lan2Go(TM), offered by InformaTech and powered by products from
Enterasys, provides limitless possibilities for the telemedicine market and
other enterprise environments,' said John R. Barnes, Chairman, President
and CEO of Kaneb Services, Inc. ``InformaTech has engineered the Lan2Go(TM)
as a 'LAN in a box' that minimizes system start-up time and eliminates the
space, support staff and cable plant requirements of a traditional Local
Area Network.'

Lan2Go(TM) is applicable to a broad spectrum of enterprise environments,
including telemedicine, emergency services, temporary or satellite offices,
educational campuses, and other environments that require a rapidly
installable network solution. Lan2Go(TM), which will be demonstrated at the
InformaTech booth (#9350) in the Dallas Convention Center, is a complete,
secure, mobile, highly-scalable Local Area Network with built-in Wide Area
Network (WAN) and Internet capabilities.

``Our partnership with Enterasys Networks brings together a new level of
innovation, service, support and capability to today's Information
Technology market,' said Albert Hornaday, president of Kaneb Information
Technology Group. ``Lan2Go(TM) is the first of its class, providing a secure
mobile LAN solution that can be installed in a multitude of environments for
both long and short-term applications.'

Key elements of Lan2Go(TM) are Enterasys Networks' multilayer SmartSwitch
Router (SSR) 2000 and RoamAbout(TM) wireless solutions. The SSR-2000
provides layer 2-7 switch routing for both LAN and WAN environments, at
speeds ranging from 10/100 to Gigabit Ethernet. RoamAbout offers flexible
(Wi-Fi ready) wireless LAN connectivity at speeds up to 11 megabits per
second (Mbps), based on the IEEE 802.11b industry standard. This solution
combines the benefits of wire-speed Gigabit routing and the mobility of
wireless networks to enable a secure, reliable enterprise network.

``We are excited to work with InformaTech, a leading clinical technology and
professional services firm, to deliver solutions for the healthcare market.
As more specialized medical applications move onto the network, reliability,
performance and mobility will become crucial factors for healthcare
providers,' said Bob Anderson, senior director of enterprise solutions at
Enterasys Networks.
