Qwest announces major fiber sale to GTE

GTE Corp. to acquire dark fiber in new Qwest Network

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 5, 1997--Qwest Communications Corp. announced today that Qwest and GTE Corp. have signed an agreement whereby GTE will acquire the right to use 24 dark fibers, and certain associated facilities, installed along the entire route of the approximately 13,000-mile coast to coast, technologically advanced fiber optic network that Qwest is currently constructing.
