Attention Business Editors:

Shore Gold Inc. - Star Kimberlite - Expanded Drill Program Progress Report

SASKATOON, April 6 /CNW/ - Jonathan Challis, President, is pleased to
report that 13 out of 15 NQ-size (1.875 inches diameter) drill holes have now
been completed on the Company's 100 percent-owned Star Kimberlite. Star 0011
tested a magnetic low area in the southwest corner of the grid and returned
2.4 metres of kimberlite. Drill hole Star 0012 tested the southeast corner of
the grid, between holes 96-4 and Star 002, intersecting 21.4 metres
of kimberlite (compared to 20.2 metres and 26.2 metres in 96-2 and Star 002
respectively). Star 0013 was collared in the northern portion of the grid
bordering a magnetic high/magnetic low response and intersected two
kimberlite horizons. The upper zone measured 44.2 metres in thickness and
the lower zone 10.5 metres. The center of this magnetic high response was
tested previously by drill holes 96-3 and 97-3A and B which intersected
50.6, 45.3 and 40.2 metres of the upper kimberlite respectively. It is
important to note that in this instance a decreased magnetic response did not
indicate decreased kimberlite thickness.
A test ground resistivity survey is currently underway to see if an
alternative geophysical method can be used to define the lateral extent and
thickness of the kimberlite. This method has been used successfully on other
projects and if successful on the Star Kimberlite will be a tremendous aid in
resource tonnage calculations.
A drill rig to drill PQ-size (3.35 inches diameter) core holes has been
mobilized to the property and up to five PQ holes will be drilled to obtain a
larger sample size for diamond recovery.
Logging and sampling of the NQ core is in progress and samples have been
shipped to laboratories in Canada and South Africa for processing. Results
will be released when they are received and compiled.
