He wanted to quit basketball, but his dad wouldn't let him, and The Rest Is History. This reminds me of an inspirational anecdote that happened to me when I was in high school. I was on the track team, but I really stunk and I hated it, so I decided to quit. So I told my dad, and he said: ``Why?' And I said: ``I hate it.' And my dad -- I will never forget this -- said ``OK.'
