Voltaire, Gentle Folk,

I hope you have a rocker for a weary pilgrim. I found my way here via all sorts of strings and by-ways. I arrived about the time all hell broke loose and spent most of the lurking time under the porch. Reminded me of some of the rocket attacks we had in Saigon - think it is safe to come out now? I am about to make a bunch of folks feel young and happy because I have passed the magic 65 year mark.

I was fortunate to have two very interesting careers and didn't even think about retirement (except as something far off in the future) until I turned 64 and ran head on into reality. I spent 20 years flying Uncle Sam's fighter planes and then after picking up an MBA on the GI Bill, went to work for the University playing with computers. Computers are nearly as much fun as flying and there is the added advantage that no one is trying their best to make you dead.

I have my Air Force retirement, Social Security and a nice sum in TIAA-CREF. The problem is how to get the most from the TIAA-CREFF funds and not leave anything on the table for them. I do not retire until this time next year, so I have some time to figure it out.

I was chasing the answer when I ran across the mention of Covered Calls and it sounded good to me. I kept following the CC leads and wound up at the Porch. I think I found a home.

I have learned much here all ready and look forward to learning more. I also enjoy the humor and find the Porch more to my Southern boy taste than some of the other boards I have run across.

I promise not to be so verbose again and probably do much more reading than writing. Thanks for the hospitality,

"Sting"
