I would upgrade from P-166, but I would not necessarily get 1 GHz chip. Rather than getting $1,000 chip, get a > $200 chip now, that is upgradable, and in 1 or 2 years, get an upgrade for > $200, which will buy you more than 1 GHz at that time.
