The "winners" of the English auction will end up paying so much that they may need to lease some of the spectrum to other operators later. Maybe when the current fever drops a notch, Sonera can buy the necessary piece of a license later on.

When the American 2G auctions took place a couple of years ago, some of the winners were bankrupted by their license fees and their licenses were liquidated. I don't think that BT or Voda will end up in Chapter 11 any time soon; but they may need to sell off pieces of their licenses. The BT-Voda sibling rivalry for the B block is clearly driving this mania - neither can concede the best license for fear of losing face. This pissing contest is not what the auction system was meant to create.
