What Cowpland thinks is utterly irrelevant. We're dealing with a two-bit CD shrinkwrapping operation that has barely managed to carve out a living during the most explosive and profitable period imaginable.

The statement that Microsoft is a "partner" is nothing more than wishful thinking. Let me be very clear about this: CEO Cowpland appears to complete ignore that Corel is shrinking or at best treading water. It's been that way for years. So he ignores reality and focuses on pumping up this fictional image of Corel in the market place as a significant player. It's like some sort of childish game of make-believe or an adult mind-game designed to mask reality.

Make no mistake about it: the washed-up, 1980's hand-me-down bloatware Corel acquired from Novel is going nowhere on Windows or Linux. Not only is their Microsoft Office but Star Office by Sun Microsystems runs on both platforms and it's free of charge. I fully expect an Linux version of Office to be announced along with a Microsoft Distribution of Linux. Your grandmother can have a Linux distribution, Microsoft definitely will. They did this with Java and this time their are no barriers: they can extend Linux without changing the Linux core.
