Trivia bit. In his book Be Here Now, Ram Dass said he took acid once a year in order to (I forget the precise phrasing, it's been twenty years!) something like keep the mind from forming rigid structures. So I don't think he TOTALLY renounced acid, but gave it a smallish part in his spiritual life.
