dines is big on palladium now. it's a metal used in every auto's pollution control system, and worldwide demand outstrips what is mined. he recently wrote an extensive article on palladium mining companies and has three picks as buys.

he also likes the biotechs and has maybe three picks there.

he's been setting tighter and tighter stops on hs list of internet stocks, and at this point has sold all but about four. he has yet to call a bottom and signal one of his famous buy signals, so right now there's lots of cash in the portfolio of anyone who follows his recommendations.

he has a few other cool picks as well that are tech related but are not internet stocks.

i don't see him as a gold bug. he got that reputation earlier and now holds some mining companies as a hedge, but that's about it.

there's no one else like him. yes, he's made a lot of money for me. but also every time a dines letter arrives i have a really fantastic time reading it. sometimes a friend and i have a brandy and take turns reading the articles out loud. there's lots of laughter and great conversation on those nights. i guess what i am trying to say is that reading a copy of time magazine is a nothing experience for me, but reading one of his letters really has zing.
