Hi Steven- <Are we in danger ?? Aware|Cisco|U.S.Robotics ally>
I think this is a major event.
It had been postulated that USRX went with AWRE as an interim solution, because the C6X w/ Amati line code was a good 6-8 months off, but that when released likely would be considered by USRX and others as the "standard" play.
Whereas this may still come to pass, this announcement opens a few new doors of consideration.
1) That USRX does not seem to be considering Amati OR the DMT-ANSI standard license. So however Aware's code was written, it seems that ANSI- DMT "standard compatibility" is sufficient for the market.
2) That TI has a contract with Aware. This makes sense, but is a surprise. Whatever value has been ascribed to Amati as a result of having contracts with MOT and TI has to now be reconsidered. If you are TI or MOT, why NOT also contract to make chips for Aware DMT? So it seems from this that Amati does not have an EXCLUSIVE contract with TI. Perhaps not MOT either. And Aware's attorney's seem to feel that they can be ANSI compatible WITHOUT using Amati's line code instantiation.
3) Also, Cisco/USRX-3COM's use of Aware somewhat lessens the likelihood of a Cisco/Amati ADSL solution.
These are definite considerations.
Jim Kramer's "10-bagger" definitely carries some weight. Hopefully AMTX will announce some reasonable dollars soon and the RUT will continue it's rebound.
Wow, six hundred messages since Wed! Even lightly skimming took many hours on Sunday!

For the record, I bought back in from 7 1/2 to 10 and sold about half today from 14 1/2 to 15. Then bought back some at 13 3/4 to 14 1/4 as it stabilized. Long and definitely wanting the stock up, but watching the playing field dynamics.
Also, does anyone else sense an isomorphic relation between the following:
engineer Will C. Hiram Walker CA Reynolds srvhap Steve Green Sung Q. Kim Techie sage (by email)
I personally appreciate (all of) the above posts, but I wonder how many people actually are on this board. 10? |
