That was in the past. It is a whole new game now with new products, etc....

Some time ago, one of our sharper posters pointed out that with component prices falling, it was a puzzle that SEG seemed to stay profitable while the virtual DD makers were losing. It just didn't make sense. I'd like to second the motion made by someone on a Yahoo thread that perhaps Seagate's troubles were disguised by its vast VRTS riches, and in fact the less integrated DD makers are the most promising as far as profits. For instance, SEG does not have 10GB platter drives in retail. It just now entered the NAS market through a partnership. With head makers going out of business and media makers nearly bankrupt, and suspension makers in the dump, how can SEG make profit by making these components itself ?
