Emulex Corp. (Nasdaq:EMLX, news, msgs), the world's largest independent supplier of fibre channel host adapters, Thursday announced that the Emulex LightPulse(TM) LP7000E has been selected to provide I/O connectivity for the world's largest Windows NT server clustering demonstration showcased this week at the VERITAS INFORUM 2000 European Storage User's conference in London.
The 32-node Windows NT cluster of servers and storage developed by VERITAS Software highlights the reliability of clustering applications: an online reservation system, based on Windows NT, can automatically fail-over from one server to another, while logically remapping storage to the server in case of failure.
The configuration showcases VERITAS Cluster Server for NT -- a high-availability management solution that enables customers with Windows NT-based applications to create clusters of two to 32 servers. The configuration is comprised of 32 Compaq Proliant 1850R servers, with one Emulex LP7000E in each system, along with several BROCADE SilkWorm switches and StorageWorks RA8000 storage sub-systems.
