Elmer,

Re ...and Willy had a 400MHz advantage, based on demo's and probably a significant architectural advantage as well.

As I recall, there were two machines used at the IDF "willy' demo. I think I remember that it took more than one boot to get the "MHz meter willy machine" to boot up using 1.4 GHz. For some strange reason that machine was turned off and NOT used for the PowerPoint based activities that followed. For some reason a second machine was used instead. It was/is not clear in my mind the speed (MHz/GHz) that second machine was running. Was that second machine also a willy or was it a PweeIII of some kind? Perhaps you can help me out here? If that Second machine was a "willy", what was its speed? Why the switch of machines? Was stage magic going on there?

BTW, recall those three Athlon 700 MHz processors that I had that must have been started in Dec. '98 or Jan. '99? If you recall I have pictures of them posted on my profile page

In case you don't recall how to read the Athlon processor case codes you may go to

Thanks JC, I appreciate your time, effort and storage space. I'm a faithful reader!
