CNBC is interesting to watch.

However, there is a serious flaw in the methodology they use to question analysts hyping certain stocks.

Now, we all know analysts often are nothing more than disguised salesman. However, with CNBC - once the analyst recommends a stock - the question they always ask is "do you (meaning your firm) own it?" This question is meaningless -since the the large buys may have happened months before, when the valuations were fair or perhaps the house is simply propping it up by not dumping it - even though they know its overpriced currently.

The relevant question should be "are you now adding large positions in this stock at current multiples and current prices?"

Point is there is a big difference between holding a stock versus buying it at current levels.

CNBC seems not to understand this difference.
