Star Office for Linux is free and the Microsoft Office for Linux effort is almost certainly poised for release at any time. Corel's washed-up port of ancient Windows bloatware stands no chance against Office, but let's not forget that products from Applix and Sun Microsystems are already there and one of them is way cheap: $0.00 per copy and half that ($0.00) for volume shipments.

Should Microsoft decide against releasing Office for Linux I will be eating my hat. Anybody foolish enough to think that Microsoft is not building a Linux copy of Office or creating their own Linux distribution, as some low-talent teenagers have already done, is not thinking straight.

Wake up folks. It is pretty clear that the market doesn't understand just how easy it's going to be to create some parallel software on both Windows and Linux. Moreover, it would not surprise me to discover that somebody's pet dog has its own Linux distribution. It's a low-talent effort that has been pulled off by more than one bored teenager.
