Zeev, Aus, Thread:
As you must know, I lurk here far more than post, but have been on this thread 2yrs+ nonetheless. Regarding the recent unveiling of this crap technology and the crap that preceded it (i.e., the microdrive), we all can bask more than a little in the indisputable fact that compact flash has a minimum 12-24 months of unrivaled capability ahead. Indeed, that timespan holds within it the remaining and yet unrealized big, gooey drips of acceptance from OEM's not yet on board but who have no better choice. These joinings are inevitable and obscenely profitable.
If some new technology does emerge that makes CF obsolete, I have a hard time believing that it would take SNDK and Dr. Harari by surprise. Indeed, if there comes a better way, I think it far more likely than otherwise that SanDisk will be chest-deep in it before anyone else can get a foothold.
It is smart to be on the lookout for takeout technology. It is unlikely if not impossible that such a technology could take down SNDK within a year...and perhaps, ever. To believe otherwise is to ignore all that has come to pass in the last 5 years.
