Welcome to John, Bob, Dale and Mr. BSL. Thanks for posting. Your contributions are appreciated.

Dale- Thanks for presenting your portfolio's diversification. I would also like to see a discussion of cash and margin. From your portfolio I see that you currently have 5% margin. I am holding only a small percentage of cash (<5%) just now and only use margin intermittantly (none lately, briefly for a few weeks in December and again in January). It does mean I can't buy during the dips like last week and it does inhibit trading, which in my case is probably a good thing. I know you are a more active trader (and follow a lot more stocks judging by your holdings). I have had better luck with longer held positions but that is just me.

I am currently not shorting, though it looks like a lot of the internuts are finally coming down out of the stratosphere. Having a few such shorts in one's account is certainly one way to hedge your portfolio.
