any deal of AOL with ONT deal is doubtful

AOL is committed to InterNet Explorer
and Owns NetScape! AOL is also the
largest Modem player, Not Broadband.
Since losing a judgement in California
where AOL Cannot compell Cable Modem
providers to carry AOL as an ISP, it
is doubtful AOL will position itself
to expand it's broadband penetration
before first buying more capacity.
Keep in mind this summer AOL will
debue it's WebTV equivelant box, which
will also fail miserably because it's
a modem based box. Yesturdays technology.
Frankly, if ONT did any deal with AOL,
it may help the stock, but would actually
be bad for ONT as they'd probably have to
make major financial, research & development
commitements to AOL, especially because AOL
is a proprietary ISP; this would only serve
to stifel their potential elsewhere. Also
by ONT allying with AOL, they would alienate
themselve from other ISP's who see AOL as
the MicroSoft of the ISP business...
