Not so OT - Re: Holland, Michigan

Freedog, it is really interesting to read about history and culture.

I checked out the webdomain www.siliconworld.com to expand the scope of SI to all other areas of interest where people can meet and exchange ideas. It has been taken in January.

The idea to build other message boards on other topics than investing has come up before. To leverage the technology of SI. That is something else than create new threads in the coffee shop.

history - geography - travel - cooking - hobbies - literature, to name a few of the areas a community of exchanges can be formed.

Each topic should have its own site. And then you can jump from investing to cooking to travel.

For cooking, their are hundreds of styles of cooking, who each can set up their own thread. Then you can have forums like "Meals 5 dollars and under". Threads like "The Turkey Thread - 60 ways to stuff them". You could have a 'portfolio' of preferred recipies. Revenue: food retailers and brands, restaurants, kitchen stuff.

For travel, Forums per continent, TravelTalk, threads for each country and type of travel. Levy could write about Maui. Revenue: hotels, airlines, travel agents, rentacar.

Before computers and books where invented, people were story tellers. Around the campfire.

It is so easy to create a message on a board like SI. I'm sure it will bring many more people to gnet than only the investing community. And you may unleash a lot of creativity from the investors themselves.

Gnet: think big, think global.

Pareto
