Socal: OT, about that blood substitute....it may be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but folks need to be aware of Fed/scientifically mandated time frames for the bio-tech industry. Animal studies are the front end of the process, typically known as Phase I. It takes a year to derive results that indicate enough efficacy to warrant taking the next step. This step is Phase II, small scale, limited human testing. This takes a year, minimum. Once the data is accumulated and efficacy proven out they go to the next step....Phase III. This is large scale human testing. This takes....a year, minimum. If the data proves out from this Phase, then on to the Fed's for approval. This could take...a year.
Bottom line? You better be VERY patient when jumping into a bio-tech announcing results while still in animal testing. It's a loooooong road you got ahead of ya(I know, see such as BIOM, an entity I've been following for nigh on 5 years now, and who looks to be, in about 1 1/2 years, to have some truly gang-buster products). ;-)
