I think that calling the Forbes article on DVIN "fairly negative" is rather an understatement <G>. At least Stephane backed up her attitude with some background information. I actually am coming to agree with her. Filipowski is a shameless idea "flavor grabber" as a Chicago friend of mine used to call people who grabbed other people's ideas without attribution. I suppose Al Gore is another. Flip is a super salesman though and that can take him and his company pretty far.

On one of the Softbank Boards (the original internet zaibatsu) someone suggested that the current shakeout in the Internet Venture Capital area was actually good for the solidly established companies. It will probably make it more difficult for the copycats to raise money and it will chase out some of the wackier new IPOs and reduce competition.

We'll have to see how Flip does with the DVIN IPO later this month and how the follow on aftermarket behaves. I agree that a strong run up will be met by massive shorting and this board will become a very popular place <G>. I will pass on this one most likely. I hope that Flip is successful. For Chicago's sake and for the possibility that DVIN can get some favorable laws passed that might help CMGI and other Internet Holding Companies like Softbank (my favorite). CMGI also owns a piece of DVIN.
