SEOUL, April 10 (Reuters) - LG International Corp
<01120.KS> said on Monday it and five other South Korean
companies have agreed with Commerce One Inc of the
United States to launch a joint venture in May to build an
Internet portal for online business activities.
The companies, including Dacom <15940.KS>, signed a
memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Internet software
developer agreeing to create an Internet portal for
business-to-business trading by September, LG said in a
statement.
The joint venture is to be expanded to include other Korean
companies and electronic commerce service providers with a view
to raising its capital to 30 billion won ($27.05 million), it
said.
Once established, the Internet site would serve as a portal
to Commerce One's Global Trading Web, a worldwide
business-to-business trading community, the statement said.
Shares in LG International closed up 410 won at 4,610 on
Monday.
Dacom rose 24,000 won to close at 277,000.
