[Adelphia to Trial Ensemble Communications' Fiberless System; Largest LMDS B Band Licensee Chooses Market-Leading BWA System for Field Testing]

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2000--Ensemble Communications Inc., a supplier of next-generation broadband wireless access (BWA) equipment, today announced that Adelphia Business Solutions will trial its Fiberless(TM) point-to-multipoint BWA system in several Pennsylvania and New York markets beginning in April.

Adelphia, a national integrated communications provider, owns the most LMDS B band licenses in the U.S.

The trials are a strategic step in Adelphia's plan to deploy broadband wireless technology throughout its national fiber optic network, thereby extending services to off-net customers and multi-tenant buildings cost effectively.

Fueled by Ensemble's patented Adaptix(TM) technology, which represents a substantial breakthrough in terms of speed and flexibility, Fiberless allows carriers to increase revenues by a factor of six or more while using less equipment than competing systems. Consisting of Adaptive Time Division Duplexing, Adaptive Time Division Multiple Access, and Adaptive Modulation, Adaptix was developed by Ensemble to enable the flexible delivery of broadband, packet-based services to end users in a way that best optimizes the use of both equipment and frequency resources.

Fiberless consists of the Fiberless 16000 Base Station, Fiberless 300 Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and the Fiberless Management System (FMS). It has been engineered from the ground up, without reliance on legacy approaches, to help solve the unique challenges of the BWA market. A global platform, Fiberless is designed to serve BWA carriers with frequency licenses ranging from 10 to 45 GHz, and to seamlessly interconnect with IP, ATM and TDM backhaul architectures.
