MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2000-- ZapMedia.com, a privately-held Internet webcasting company, today announced it has selected Quantum QuickView(TM) audio/video storage technology from Quantum (NYSE:HDD - news) for its ZapStation(TM) universal media player -- the next-generation home entertainment system. This product will be launched in the fall of 2000, allowing consumers to harness the power of Internet media while connected to their televisions and home stereo systems.

Quantum QuickView hard drives will serve as the enabling technology for the ZapStation, providing instant access to content from a variety of audio/video sources, either electronic or packaged. The system, which will be available at retail for an estimated price of $300, simply plugs into existing TVs, home stereos, and the Internet allowing users to enjoy a multitude of entertainment content from their living rooms. Using a wireless remote or keyboard, consumers can use the device for the following:

-- Internet streaming radio -- tune to thousands of stations across
the Web DVD/CD audio player

-- Music jukebox -- play, record, and organize up to 7,000 songs with
instant music playback according to specific artist, genre, album,
and song

-- E-mail -- use TV to read and write messages

-- Universal media receiver -- retrieve audio, video, and graphic
clips from the Web
