The ads in the SF Examiner weren't very nice to AMD this weekend. Intel outnumbered them probably 8 to 1. I know AMD wants to raise the bar, but not being able to compete with INTC's 500-600 Pentium from a price standpoint has hurt them. 500-600 MHz is AMD's week range. K2 is out of steam in this range (due to slow L2) and AMD does not want to sell Athlons in this range, since they can be sold for more in higher frequencies. Spitfire will fit in perfectly - starting from 550 MHz, at competitive prices. Regarding the Register article, I think AMD should sell Spitfires ASAP, but limit them to speeds only up to 700 MHz. And Athlons should be sold only at and above 750 MHz. This way, there would be no overlap, and AMD would not have to worry about Spitfire outperforming regular Athlon. Joe
