OT: Car theft
Drew, I agree. Once someone, whether a teenager or a professional, has gotten into your car and started driving it, you've already lost your car. I don't know shine-ola about car theft, but it seems you could easily defeat a potential G* car-monitoring system:
step (1): steal car step (2): park car where GPS signal couldn't be received (i.e. in a garage) step (3): remove GPS receiver step (4): throw GPS receiver in a lake
Assuming steps (2) - (4) could be done in less than an hour, there's no way the GPS cops could catch you. The real trick to avoiding car theft is keeping criminals from getting past step (1). You know, good old fashioned crime fighting techniques like, locking your car, parking in well-lit places, getting a car alarm, driving a rusted lime-green AMC Gremlin . . .
I may add that should you do decide to purchase a car alarm, make sure you park the car outside of my bedroom window at night, with the sensitivity set so high that a cricket brushing against the tire sets off the horn. Of the 10 such cars parked on my block, not a single one has been stolen! (although I'm doing some research on vandalism).
