The difference is I don't worship evolution. I don't give any money to the church of evolution. I don't waste my Sundays doing anything to further evolution. Caring is merely a word- a human word- to denote a series of behaviors. I would argue that while I SEEM to be caring about my children what I am really doing is furthering my genetic material. I am highly adapted to be very responsive to my children, to insure their survival- part of that adaption has made me the caring mother that I am. Humans have also adapted to live socially- it has obviously caused the human population to EXPLODE (which may or may not turn out to be evolutionarily adaptive). But that "caring" that we do greases society along, which in turn provides an environment for us to propagate- and that is what (imo) it's all about. And may the best genes win.
