Discreet and Chyron Sign Relationship Agreement
LAS VEGAS, NAB, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Discreet (Nasdaq: ADSK - news) and Chyron Corporation (NYSE: CHY - news) announced today a unique application reseller relationship whereby Chyron will sell Discreet's real-time 3D graphics system, frost*, as an integrated solution with Chyron's iNFiNiT! and Duet family of products. The agreement is aimed at providing broadcasters with a turnkey solution delivering real-time 2D and 3D animated graphics, including a familiar Chyron operator interface and ATVEF support for frost* animation.
Information about the integrated solution will be available at NAB 2000 in the Chyron booth (#L12908) at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Las Vegas, April 10th through the 13th.
Operators familiar with Chyron will now be able to complement their Chyron character generators with frost* real-time 3D graphics, animations and transitions for daily broadcast productions. The integrated solution enables them to take advantage of the power of frost* as if it were another element in the Chyron Multi-Effects Page, streamlining the process of delivering information with complex and sophisticated 3D animations.
This system will also deliver automated or interactive content with a level of sophistication well above today's broadcast standard. As an ATVEF supporter, Chyron and ATVEF are currently working to accelerate the creation and distribution of interactive television (itv) content. This new relationship now enables broadcasters to imbed web links within both the Chyron and frost* generated graphics.
``Chyron knows broadcasters' needs for on air graphics better than anyone,' said Godfrey Sullivan, executive vice president and general manager of Discreet. ``This is an exciting opportunity for Discreet to further expand into this market, and we look forward to partnering with Chyron to address the growing demand for real-time 3D animations.'
Chyron president and CEO, Roger Henderson added, ``Chyron is a well-known and trusted brand in the broadcast market. Our users have been asking us to help them add rich 3D graphics to their daily broadcast productions. This agreement is a testament to the value both companies can bring to broadcasters. We look forward to working with Discreet to deliver these exciting graphic capabilities.'
Product Availability
The integrated frost*-Chyron solution will be available for shipment in Summer 2000. Customers or interested parties can contact their regional Chyron Sales Office (www.chyron.com) or call 631-845-2000 for more information.
