Well I see it like you look at the % gain and not amount time held. Would you have held EXAR? Now if you plan to leave your money two years who's to say in 1 year and 10 months there is isn't a 60% haircut just when you need to pay a college tuition or mortage comes due, yet in 3 weeks and 8 days the market moves up 30-40%.. I'd take the 30-40% and then go on from there. Everyone is so obsessed with 'long term' and I say long term is made up of lots of little 'short terms'.. the separate parts in this case might be more than the sum at the end.
