INTREPID MINERALS CORP ("IAU-V") - Twin Hole Confirms Bonanza Silver Grades Intrepid Minerals Corporation released the results of twin diamond hole 00DH-7, completed as part of Intrepid's quality control protocol for drilling at the Cerro Colorado III discovery in western El Salvador. The hole was designed to duplicate reverse circulation hole 99RC-1, and represents the true width intersection through the baryte stockwork capping Cerro Colorado III.
The diamond hole returned 53 metres of 285 g/t silver, including two higher grade intervals of * 14 metres assaying 698 g/t silver, 0.15 g/t gold, 0.58% lead and 1.09% zinc. * 11 metres assaying 118 g/t silver, 0.20 g/t gold, 1.14% lead and 5.81% zinc.
By comparison, 99RC-1 returned 305 g/t silver over 55 metres, including 5 metres of 832 g/t silver and 4 metres of 926 g/t silver. When silver assays are cut to 1000 g/t, the average silver grade over a 53 metre interval is 271 g/t for 99RC-1 and 272 g/t for 00DH-7, or a 0.4% variance.
The last metre interval of 00DDH7 assayed 7.0% zinc, 1.96% lead and 54 g/t silver, again confirming that the baryte-silver stockwork has a zinc enriched footwall which has been intersected in deeper holes drilled during this program. This twin diamond hole is currently being extended.
In other news, Intrepid's joint venture partner, Montana Gold Corp. is making progress at the San Cristobal project in eastern El Salvador. Geophysical surveys are planned over 3 mineralized breccia zones. One of these zones is 4.5 km long, up to 500 metres wide and hosts the historic silver-gold Encuentros mine. Soil samples over a portion of this breccia complex averaged 1.3 g/t gold over 150m and 1.5 g/t over 200m. To earn a 60% interest in San Cristobal, Montana is required to spend US$300,000 in exploration expenditures on this property by December 31st, 2000 and a further US$300,000 by December 31, 2001.
