This comes up a lot. There were calls recently for an investigation by the state government. I think it's basically because land is more expensive and wages are higher up north. When I got my California driver's license, gas was $.249 in Sunnyvale and $.199 in Santa Monica. Nonetheless the differential is very large, especially considering that the gas is refined in LA. ted
